Background
Shirley Mahinda Kushan De Alwis was appointed to the Board of Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 20 April 2022.[1]
Kushan De Alwis is an old boy of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. After graduating from Sri Lanka Law College, he took oaths as an Attorney-at-Law in 1985.[2][3][4]
Kushan De Alwis was appointed a President’s Counsel on 11 October 2012 by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and he has continued to practice as a President’s Counsel since then.[5][2] Also Kushan was a Member of the Public Representations Committee on Constitutional Reform appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers in the year 2016.[6]
