Background

National Sales Congress (NASCO) Awards is an awards ceremony organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) for sales professionals in Sri Lanka. The vision of NASCO is stated as “The premier event in Sri Lanka that recognizes sales excellence, rewarding and motivating sales professionals to achieve greater heights”.[1]

Any organization registered as a business in Sri Lanka can nominate their sales personnel for this NASCO awards. Nominations are invited under a range of specific categories (21 categories in 2017). ‘Alcohol & Tobacco’ is identified as a separate category, whereas all the other Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) are included in 3 FMCG categories (food, beverages and cosmetics).[1] The industries can nominate their employees under three employee categories (Territorial Managers, Sales Executive and Supervisors, and Front-Liners). Nomination fees for the different employee categories ranged from LKR 12,000 to LKR 16,000 (exclusive of 2% NBT & 15% VAT) in 2016. The nominees would be evaluated by a judge panel and each employment category of each industry category will be awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze excellence awards and an award for the Best female sales person.[1]
