Background
Phoenix Ogilvy (Pvt) Ltd was founded by Irvin Weerackody in 1973. According to their website, Phoenix amalgamated with Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, a global advertising company, in 1998. Ogilvy Global network reportedly has “more than 120 offices in over 80 countries”. The Ogilvy Group consists of six companies in related disciplines namely, Phoenix Ogilvy, Ogilvy Media, Ogilvy PR, Neo@Ogilvy, Geometry Global and RedWorks. Irvin Weerackody is the current chairman of the Ogilvy Group, Sri Lanka. Sudesh Sundhara Moorthy is the Chief Executive Officer, Rajive R.Menon is the Chief Executive Creative Officer, and Siddhartha Roy is the Chief Operating Officer of the Phoenix Ogilvy, Sri Lanka.[1]

Producing a Dunhill Advertisement
A video advertisement produced by the X10 Productions Private Limited mentioned the contracting agency as the Phoenix Ogilvy - Colombo and the client as the Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC). In an article published in the Sunday Times, a national newspaper in Sri Lanka, the Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) was mentioned as one of the clients of Phoenix Ogilvy, referring to it as British American Tobacco Sri Lanka.[2]
Partnerships with government organisations
Ogilvy Digital signed an MOU with the Department of Marketing Management (DMM), University of Kelaniya (UoK) - Sri Lanka, on 26th November 2021, to become the “Strategic Knowledge Partner for Digital Marketing” for the degree programmes offered by DMM UoK. The importance of the partnership was highlighted in relation to two areas, the “Certified Professional Marketing Graduates (CPMG)” qualification and the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Digital Marketing degree offered by the UoK.[3]
