Background
Marie Premila Perera is an Independent Director of the Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) since January 2013.[1][2][3] She was referred to as “an eminent tax professional” in local media.[4] Local media reported that Perera “has been a presenter/moderator at various client forums as well as a resource person at forums organised by professional bodies, Chambers of Commerce, USAID, and was a Faculty at the KPMG International Tax Business School.”[5]

Perera joined the Board of Directors of the CTC in January 2013 as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairperson of the Audit Committee.[1]

- During her carrier at KPMG she served as the Regional Tax Director of the Asia Pacific Region (2000-2001), served a period of secondment with the KPMG US Firm in Washington DC and was a participant of the KPMGINSEAD International Banking School Programme. As the Head of Tax her role was described as “management of tax, whilst balancing conflicting pressures of stakeholder value and compliance, in the background of increasing governance and regulation.”[4][7]
